Place Name: First Place Contestant Name: Rappahannock News Entry Title: Features in Rappahannock County Entry Credit: Tim Carrington Judge Comment: This entry had three quality features. It's nice to find amazing people that deserve recognition. A lot of work went into developing these stories. Well done!
Place Name: Second Place Contestant Name: Rappahannock News Entry Title: Featues in Rappahannock County Entry Credit: Randy Rieland Judge Comment: Your story on the couple traveling Europe was my favorite story in all the entries. Your writing is solid and this was so close to being my number one selection. Congratulations on finding great topics to write about.
Place Name: Third Place Contestant Name: The Smithfield Times Entry Title: records, crossing, from the ashes Entry Credit: Stephen Faleski Judge Comment: You had three super entries but I felt this was your strongest. I found the story about the ferry crossings unusual and interesting which makes for a great feature topic.
Competition Comment: The entries in this category were outstanding. i found that many entries had at least one really solid feature and most had two. i especially like reading about topics that are unique to your community. Keep searching for the unique, keep writing leads that are feature story in nature and not "straight newsy." Often, the leads do separate the average from the great, and please adhere to the contest rules.
