Effective use of labels throughout the publication -- makes it easy to navigate the content on the pages. Sharp, well-composed images — the high school sports team, miniature cows, and the various photo pages give me a pretty good visual of what Nelson County is (it seems lovely, by the way!) This is a great local paper. Great work.
Place Name: Second Place Contestant Name: Amherst New Era-Progress Entry Title: May 23, June 27 and Sept. 26 Entry Credit: Staff Judge Comment: it's a quality publication with lots of interesting local information. However, the cover is clearly templated and it deflated the design when examining side-by-side. All news holes, fonts, photo positions were nearly identical across all covers. I suggest mixing the design up a bit. Great work overall.
