The photographer controls their technique with great skill as the skaters are at times frozen in action with ice chips caught in mid-air. While at other times the photographer has slowed their shutter speed to allow for a smooth pan, alluding to the great speed. They are doing this with both longer and shorter lenses.

Quite genius. The result is a surprising number of perfectly exposed individuals caught in the act of enjoying a wonderful community event.
