    Judge Comment: The writer capture a unique since of place and brought the reader back in time and into the neighborhood. Good research and background. I enjoyed the variety of voices.

    Judge Comment: Strong profile of a man and his craft. I feel like I would recognize Alex and his shop if I stepped through the door. Good description; a strong, active voice; and multigenerational perspective lifted this one above some others.
